Chippers Mulchers Shredders

Dr Wenzel

"My Red Roo is the Best Birthday Present Ever!"

When Jeanette Wenzel went shopping for her husband’s 50th birthday present, she returned with a Red Roo CMS80 chipper mulcher shredder. Thirteen years later, Dr.
Wenzel states,”The Red Roo CMS80 is the best birthday present I have ever received.”

“"After more than a decade of rock solid reliability and performance, I decided it was time to upgrade the CMS80",” says Dr Wenzel.

James Kerr of Red Roo recently delivered a new CMS100 to the Wenzel's property in the
Dandenong Ranges outside of Melbourne, Victoria.

A serious organic gardener, Dr Wenzel knows all too well about the benefits of composting and mulching.

“"The Red Roo turns all of my green waste into valuable mulch, which creates a layer of weed suppression and aids in moisture retention. With water restrictions in place, the latter is of utmost importance to any garden," says Dr Wenzel.

Josh and Helen Sady and Mary Phillips, Mt Macedon, Vic

Neighbours Helping Neighbour

Only thirty-five minutes from Melbourne in Mount Macedon, Victoria this is a great example of neighbours helping a neighbour.

Josh and Helen Sady (left) were so impressed with the performance of their new Red Roo, CMS 80 Chipper Mulcher Shredder and HVLS Log Splitter, they were willing to share their experience with neighbour Mary Phillips (right) who also purchased a Red Roo.

Both property owners have had previous ownership experience with other brands of machinery. Dependability, quality, and performance were the three things that mattered most to these new Red Roo owners.

Mark Woods

Dear James,

I just wanted to send you this letter describing my experience with the CMS80.

Let me start by saying that I have used mulcher/chipper machinery for more than ten years. In the early days I hire all types of machines while for the last few years I have operated and maintained my own petrol unit.

The Red Roo CMS 80 is my second unit and compared with my previous machine (a Massport petrol mulcher / chipper) it is considerably heavier and more expensive. Initially, when I ordered the unit, I was quite apprehensive at the amount of money that I had out laid. However, all of my concerns about the cost of the CMS 80 faded away within the first day of use. The CMS 80 is simply amazing at how much easier and more efficient it can make mulching and chipping for the operator. I would confidently say the CMS 80 will process about three times the amount of material as my old unit could per hour and with less effort from the operator.

I’m sure I don’t need to tell you how tough the CMS80 is but let me relate one experience that I had. In one of our mulching and chipping sessions I mistakenly (in an arm full of leaves and twigs) dropped a 250 (10”) x 6mm (1/4”) steel rod into the mulcher ( I still don’t understand how I didn’t notice the rod. Even though I turned the engine off quickly, based on the noise alone, I fully expected the worst. I was absolutely amazed that there were no broken or chipped flails or any damage to the drum. On the other hand the rod was a mangled mess. Talk about one tough machine!

We own a bush block and are committed to mulching the fallen timber and the leaf material. We mulch and chip branches, leaves, twigs, and bark (from firewood preparation) every year. All of the mulch we produce is used on our garden beds to reduce water consumption. I have used the 45mm and 30mm screens. Naturally, the smaller screen hole size produces a fine mulch but the CMS 80 is a little less efficient with this screen. Although the holes on the 30mm are quite a bit bigger than the Massport screen the CMS 80 not only produces a much better quality mulch it does it in less time.

Stringy bark is very hard on mulchers and each year we produce lots of it when we de-bark our firewood. The Massport really struggled with this work, often clogging and stalling. Although I have pushed the CMS 80 much harder than I ever did the Massport, there have been no such problems with it –even with the 30mm screen.

The CMS 80 is well designed. I particularly like the ability to replace the flails without taking the drum out. This was a major undertaking with the Massport unit requiring the disassembly of the entire mulching chamber. Of course, the four cutting positions per flail is a winning design in itself.

In closing, I can honestly say that I couldn’t be happier with my investment in a CMS 80; it is tough, efficient and represents great value for money. The CMS 80 has given me more spare time to do the things that I really enjoy – and you can’t do better than that. My only regret is that the CMS 80 was my second unit and not my first.

Regards,
Mark Woods.

East Gippsland Tafe College - CMS100

James Farmer of the East Gippsland TAFE College in Morwell, Victoria takes delivery of a new CMS100 Chipper, Mulcher, Shredder. James organized demonstrations with similar machines currently on the market. The Tafe College decided to purchase a Red Roo because the CMS100 is more than just a chipper. It demonstrated the ability to perform the best shredding and mulching capacity of the machines that were demonstrated. The CMS100 is the second piece of equipment that East Gippsland Tafe College has purchased from Red Roo. The TAFE initially purchased a RH1620 hydraulic rear tine rotary hoe three years ago. James states, “This is the best piece of gear that I have ever purchased in terms of performance, dependability and reliability. The Red Roo does a great job.”
